Carolyn Kent

Senior Lecturer in Physiotherapy

I am a musculoskeletal (MSK) specialist physiotherapist and qualified from Manchester Metropolitan University in 2009 with a First-Class Honours BSc degree.

I specialised in MSK outpatients in the NHS.  I then moved into private practice and football where I worked for 2 private clinics and an academy at a Scottish premier league club.  I also covered pitch side work within the Scottish Championship. I gained experience in rugby with the Scottish Rugby Union, hockey and martial arts before working with the Scottish Football Association covering their Women's national teams of all age groups which allowed me to travel the world.

Currently, I still work as a physiotherapist in private practice and have a clinical interest in lower limb and ACL injuries and specialise in the treatment of female athletes.

Areas of research interest: My research interests include female athletic performance, women’s football and using new technology in Physiotherapy education.

I am a trained Pilates instructor and have studied strength and conditioning. I have a previous First-Class Honours degree in Exercise Science from the College of Charleston in South Carolina, USA, where I completed a 4-year football scholarship. Before this I played semi-professional football in the W-League in the USA for 7 years and played for Hibernian Ladies and Scotland U19's.
